Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Provide vision, leadership, and management of a comprehensive Fraternity and Sorority life (FSL) program consisting of 24 chapters and approximately fifty percent of the undergraduate population.
- Provide supervision, review, support, and professional mentorship for two (2) FSL professional staff, two (2) FSL paraprofessional staff and multiple student staff.
- Collaborate to develop initiatives designed to build skills that support and advance values-based leadership, organizational efficacy, wellbeing, belonging, and diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Administer Expectations for Excellence, the guiding framework for fraternities and sororities; to develop strategic plans and to measure organizational development and learning.
- Oversee FSL specific initiatives such as the Emerging Leaders series, FSL Ambassadors, and the FSL Leadership and Prevention Workshop series.
- Provide resources and services that strengthen the role and effectiveness of fraternity and sorority advisers. Serve as liaison for advisers, university alumni/ae, faculty, staff, and inter/national headquarters.
- Interpret University policies and procedures for student leaders, advisors, alumni/ae, inter/national organization staff, and parents.
- Plan, develop, and implement systems and programs for chapters and councils that foster personal and peer accountability and risk reduction, with a focus on sexual misconduct, alcohol and hazing prevention education.
- Advise and support fraternity and sorority chapters and the Interfraternity Council, National Panhellenic Council, and National Panhellenic Council.
- Coordinate expansion and extension of new fraternities/sororities with undergraduate, alumni/ae, volunteers and inter/national organization staff, and develop/maintain relationships with internal and external campus stakeholders to ensure program success.
- Collaborate with the Office of Student Conduct, fraternity and sorority advisors, and inter/national headquarters when responding to FSL-specific concerns and allegations.
- Serve on a variety of committees within the University Community, Division of Campus Life, Dean of Students and Student Engagement. Participate in all department professional activities.
- Master's degree in Higher Education or appropriate field plus five years of experience in Student Activities or related Student Affairs field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer focus, with the ability to operate in a collaborative and professional manner with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse university community.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, as well as, the ability to present views in a clear and compelling manner.
- Exceptional project management skills to include the ability to plan ahead, prioritize, organize and lead multiple, concurrent initiatives; seeing projects to successful completion.
- Understanding of frameworks such as the Social Change Model of Leadership, Servant Leadership, and the Socio-Ecological Model of Organizational Change.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google applications and experience in effectively creating documents, reports, and presentations.
- Ability to interpret and apply policy and procedures established within the University and Division of Campus Life.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed and appropriate.
- Knowledge of student learning and operational assessment processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and proactively problem-solve.
- Knowledge of and a professional commitment to student development and effective higher education administration practices.
- This position reports to the Senior Associate Dean of Students.
- Coordinates budget development and departmental spend to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Works with minimal supervision.
