Staff Accountant

WHAT IS THE ROLE ABOUT? As a Staff Accountant, you will bring your strong knowledge of US GAAP, highly collaborative nature, and keen attention to detail to an already-exceptional team of accounting professionals. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for the posting of journal entries, account reconciliations, process improvements, fixed asset tracking, and annual audit support. This is a tight-knit group of individuals who are supportive, eager to learn, and are energized by meeting and exceeding goals.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
- Complete preparation of all assigned GL account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and fixed assets, to support the monthly close process.
- Maintain the cash module and fixed asset ledgers in Great Plains.
- Manage the bi-weekly payroll process in ADP
- Support the Accounting Manager with special projects as needed, including acting as project liaison and supporting other departmental initiatives.
- Actively participate in enhancements to accounting and payroll policies and procedures; suggest and implement best practices to improve controls and efficiencies.
YOU MUST HAVE (MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar area of study -OR- Bachelor’s degree in another area of study, plus an advanced degree in Accounting or similar area of study required
- 1+ years of experience in general ledger accounting required
- Solid understanding of US GAAP
- Strong experience with Adobe Professional, and MS Office Suite, specifically Excel
IDEAL IF YOU HAVE or ARE (PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE)
- High level of comfortability with ERP systems (knowledge of Great Plains a strong plus)
- Prior experience managing and processing payroll as well as knowledge of payroll systems, and withholding and procedures (ADP a strong plus)
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the Accounting department
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- A strong strategic thinker and are able to effectively pivot between initiatives and related challenges
- Results oriented and able to balance 'big picture' thinking with detailed and highly organized execution
LOCATION
Hybrid Remote/In-Office: This role requires a hybrid of remote and in-office work time at our Boston, MA location during the week. Candidates must be willing to meet this requirement in order to be considered.
