Psychologist
The University Health & Counseling Center of Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking a qualified individual to apply for a psychologist position. This position is .85 – 1.0 FTE appointment with full benefits with possible reduced hours during the summer. The psychologist hired will join a commitment and energetic team who strive every day to provide a safe, supportive, and helpful atmosphere to address the psychological, personal, and academic well-being of our students.
JOB DETAILS:
This position is responsible for providing a full range of educational, training and consultation services to faculty, staff, and students. This generalist position addresses the developmental, transitional, mental health, and prevention needs of all students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology at the time of hire (ABD will not be considered)
- Eligible to obtain Wisconsin psychologist licensure or reciprocity within 6 months of hire
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion practices within an organization, team, and/or campus environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Passed EPPP exam
- Possess a state license to practice psychology and eligible to supervise doctoral interns
- Experience providing supervision of mental health treatment to trainees or unlicensed staff
- Experience working in higher education
- Experience designing and providing education training, and outreach activities
- Experience conducting crisis intervention with high-risk clients
- Experience providing psychological assessments and supervising doctoral interns’ provision of assessments.
- Experience working within a brief treatment model
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a part of multidisciplinary treatment team
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
- Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
65% Provision of direct clinical services which include individual and group counseling, crisis management, adjunctive services and consultation.
- Perform patient psycho-diagnostic, psychological assessments and evaluations
- Identify patient psychological disorders and emotional patterns to understand and predict behavior
- Provide individual, couples, and group counseling/therapy for students and triage appointments
- Assess safety risks and develop safety plan for at-risk individuals
- Provide coverage of crisis intervention, a minimum of one day per week for student in acute emotional distress
- Develop, implement, and monitor individual and group psychological treatment programs with clinical staff and physicians
- Complete clinical treatment reports in accordance with department and agency guidelines
- Demonstrate an understanding of working with diverse populations
- Explore referral options in the community; maintain updated list of referral providers
- Provide consultation and referrals services to students, faculty, and staff regarding mental health issues.
- Adhere to ethical practices guided by the professional code of ethics
20% Clinical Supervision
- Provide individual clinical supervision to counseling trainees within an APA-accredited Doctoral Internship program. Trainee receive a minimum of two hours of supervision per week.
- Provide didactic seminars for doctoral trainees
10% Outreach and Training
- Provide a minimum of one UHCS outreach initiative each academic semester
- Serve as liaison to related campus departments (i.e., Health Services, psychiatry, nutrition, athletics/athletic training, student services)
- May provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students
- Maintain the appropriate license/certification for psychologists. During each biennium, psychologist must complete 40 credit hours of continuing education.
- Participate on university committees and internal program planning, development and evaluation.
5% Staff Meetings and Other Duties as Assigned
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $67,000 – $80,000.
