JOB DETAILS

Initiates, develops, and implements operational services that support UW-W Dining Services, Warhawk Pantry, Snack Vending, and Pouring Rights/Beverage Vending program functions to advance program goals and objectives. Reports directly to the UC Assistant Director - Business Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Food service safety, equipment and service knowledge and experience
  • Budget and contract development and management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Leadership and management skills and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hotel/Restaurant Management, or related field
  • Contract management, including audit, compliance, and contractor support
  • Policy development and risk management
  • Experience in the contract food service industry
  • Expertise in food service equipment in a multi-functional campus dining program
  • ServSafe Food Handler certified and ServSafe Alcohol certified or willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire

  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overall Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for the UW-W Dining Services program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
  • Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
  • Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • Assists in the development and monitoring of the dining budget
  • Contributes to the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors

Contract Management Support

  • Assist the University Center Leadership Team in contract management, including assisting in the preparation of contract bid specifications and Request for Proposal/Bids (RFP and RFB) documents as needed
  • Work directly with vendors on day-to-day operational needs
  • Monitor contract compliance and document performance through regular communications with each vendor’s main point of contact
  • Assist the UC Administrative Specialist - Business Operations in monitoring and reconciling reports for contracted services.
  • Proactively work with campus stakeholders to resolve compliance issues related to contracts as well as assist in evaluating the needs for expansion of services and features
  • Implement regular assessment through evaluations, surveys, review of website, social media, customers comments, and scheduled program audits to assist in data driven decision and overall satisfaction of contracted services

  • Assess proposed price changes from vendors in accordance with contract

Management of UW-W Dining Services Program

  • Assists with development and oversight of the university dining budget
  • Works with the University Center and dining contractor marketing team to implement, assess and review dining marketing initiatives related to meal plans and dining services
  • Presents information about UW-W Dining Services at campus and community events. Serves as the chair of the UW-W Dining Services Dining Advisory Committee and represents UW-W Dining Services on various campus committees and campus event planning
  • Assists with development, review, and revision of university policies and guidelines
  • Responsive to the needs and trends of diverse campus populations and organizations; assist with their unique dining needs to ensure adherence to dining related policies
  • Communicates regularly with the HawkCard Office and campus stakeholders on changes to: meal plans, hours of operations, policy and procedure, and other prominent information
  • Serves on the University Housing Appeals committee and reviews board plan appeals.

Facilities and Equipment Management

  • Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Building Operations on facility mechanical improvements projects in dining spaces, including renovations, upgrades, major construction projects and emergency response.
  • Assists with developing an ongoing long-term capital budget and preventative maintenance schedule for equipment in the kitchens and serving areas.
  • Assist with troubleshooting issues with register/ordering/POS Systems in dining areas and other related ordering devices.

Management of Warhawk Pantry

  • Supervises and supports the daily operations of the Warhawk Food Pantry.
  • Serves as primary contact of the pantry
  • Tracking of use, collection of supplies, and other key indicators as needed for review by Feeding America of Wisconsin
  • Supervisor of Pantry student employee(s)
  • Advertising of service

COMPENSATION AND BENEIFTS

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $52,000 - $57,000
