More about the UW-Madison's Division of Facilities, Planning, & Management (FP&M): The Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is a full-spectrum service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of UW-Madison in support of the university's education, research, and outreach activities. We are responsible for everything from the building projects that change the face of campus to the flowers that beautify the grounds.

More about UW's Heating & Cooling Plant: The Charter Street Heating & Cooling Plant and the Walnut Street Heating & Cooling Plant supply steam, chilled water, compressed air, electricity, and soft domestic water to the UW campus, as well as to UW Hospital & Clinics, the US Forest Service Forest Products Laboratories, and the Division of Veterans Affairs VA Hospital, and some other non-campus customers. Our plant operators also coordinate with the West Campus Cogeneration facility (which produces electricity for Madison Gas and Electric customers) on steam and chilled water needs for heating and air-conditioning on campus.

More about the Chiller Technician position: The Chiller Technician will troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, tune, and perform preventive maintenance to the chillers on site as well as the chillers that the UW owns at the West Campus Cogeneration facility. The Chiller Technician will play a key role in maintaining critical chilled water to UW-Madison in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Special Degree Requirement:
Universal refrigerant certification

Preferred:
- Minimum 3 years diagnosing, repairing and tuning large >1,000 ton centrifugal Chillers
- Knowledge and experience maintaining and repairing cooling towers
- Knowledge of the Freon (refrigeration) cycle
- Knowledge/Experience in repairing and rebuilding automatic instruments

SALARY & BENEFITS:

Minimum $36.05 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
The minimum annual rate for this position is $75,000 ($36.05/hour); but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
