Job Summary

This is a work-study position.

• Professionalism:

o Student staff will make Transfer Student Success/Crimson Transfer Honor Society ( CTHS) a priority throughout the year while maintaining focus on academics
o will role model professional behavior
o will create a welcoming environment for all, and be cognizant of each member's individuality. Student staff will seek opportunities to increase their awareness and education on supporting students
o As student staff represent the University of Utah, they will refrain from engaging in inappropriate or illegal behavior. This includes behavior on social media platforms
o May not be absent from job responsibilities without 24-hour notice
o Will be on time for and attend all official Transfer Student Success or CTHS required trainings
o Will maintain confidential information as outlined by the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act ( FERPA)

Responsibilities

• Base-line Responsibilities:

o Student Staff will serve as both a mentor and peer leader to transfer students and CTHS members
o Student staff will attend the required meetings and events: Bi-weekly Transfer Student Success/ CTHS Executive Board meetings and Two Transfer Workshop Series events per school year (ideally to promote CTHS and answer questions students have about CTHS at transfer workshops) As many CTHS service and social activities as possible
o Student staff will hold one monthly office hour. This office hour will be at the same day of week and time each month, and will be scheduled prior to the start of the semester The office hour is to be utilized for connecting with office staff, working on Transfer Student Success/ CTHS responsibilities, and encouraging members to come connect with board members
o Student staff will schedule at least two 30-minute meetings with their advisor each semester Can be completed during office hours It is the student staff's responsibility to schedule meetings One prior to midterm and one after midterm
o Student staff will meet communication minimums as follows: Check emails regularly for any updates/announcements Respond promptly to emails and messages related to student staff role (usually within 24 hours) Maintain regular communication with the advisor/supervisor
o Student staff will assist in marketing events to transfer students

Minimum Qualifications
  • Have completed at least one year at the University of Utah by the time position begins
  • Must be in good standing with the University of Utah, both academically and in conduct
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Shows commitment to campus and community through involvement
