Job Summary

The University of Utah David Eccles School of Business is seeking an Associate Director for its Executive MBA program. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership and operational management for the program, overseeing all aspects including admissions, curriculum development, student services, and alumni relations.

Responsibilities
  1. Program Management: You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Executive MBA program. This includes budget management, resource allocation, and program evaluation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth program delivery and adherence to established standards and policies.
  2. Admissions: You will work closely with the admissions team to develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract high-quality candidates for the Executive MBA program. This will involve reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and making admissions decisions in line with program goals and objectives. You will also conduct corporate outreach, build relationships within the community, and actively improve ongoing contact and cultivation methods to ensure a high yield of quality admits.
  3. Curriculum Development: You will collaborate with faculty and program leadership to design and enhance the Executive MBA curriculum. Your role will be to ensure that the program remains relevant and aligned with industry trends and demands. You will also identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
  4. Student Services: Providing comprehensive support to Executive MBA students throughout their program journey will be a key responsibility. This includes owning the success of all events and class days, counseling and advising EMBA students on academic success and career guidance, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student success and engagement.
  5. Alumni Relations: Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with Executive MBA program alumni will be crucial. You will develop and implement initiatives to engage alumni in program activities, networking opportunities, and mentorship programs. Leveraging alumni connections to enhance the program's reputation and facilitate career advancement for current students will also be part of your role.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required. Master's degree in Business Administration or related area preferred. This position is not responsible for providing patient care. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in program management or a related role, preferably in an academic setting.
  • A Master's degree in business administration or a related field is preferred. Applicants with an MBA degree from the David Eccles School of Business and a good rapport with faculty members will receive top priority.
  • Substantial leadership experience, including the ability to analyze and dissect critical issues facing the program.
  • A strong understanding of the specifics of delivering a high-quality MBA program and the needs of working professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership and strategic thinking abilities.
