The Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies is seeking to hire a nine-month, non-tenure-track lecturer in Recreation and Sport Management with a focus on Sport Management. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and service. The position begins August 1, 2024.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellent teaching in undergraduate courses in Recreation & Sport Management. The teaching load will be 4-4 with an expectation of service to the department, college, or university. Mentor undergraduate students as well as participate in professional development activities for students.

About the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies

The department is home to 36 faculty members and nine staff members. There are two undergraduate majors: Kinesiology, and Recreation & Sport Management. In total, there are approximately 2,000 undergraduate majors. There are several master's degree programs, and a PhD degree program in Kinesiology and Sport Studies.

The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

· The successful candidate for this position must have a master's degree in recreation and sport management or a related field

· Effective interpersonal and communication skills

· Commitment to the values and priorities described in the college and department's strategic plans

Qualifications Preferred

· An earned doctorate in sport management or a related field

· Experience teaching recreation and sport management undergraduate courses

· Experience working in the sport and recreation industry

· Experience mentoring or advising students
