The Opportunity
As part of Audit and Compliance this position is responsible for performing and/or leading assigned audits, reviews, advisory projects, investigations, and other projects that provide objective and independent evaluations to reduce the university’s risk and improve its operations. The purposes of these projects are generally to determine effectiveness of operational policies and procedures; efficiency of operations; compliance with internal policies or external regulations; or existence of fraud, waste, or abuse.

Audit and Compliance is looking for an energetic and self-motivated professional who seeks to build and nurture relationships with the state-wide UT community. The position may sit in the Chattanooga or Pulaski office. The successful candidate is a highly motivated team member who works well autonomously and with a team and derives professional satisfaction from adding value and advancing the department’s goals.
The Auditor II position conducts complex audit work, including audit, consulting, and investigative engagements for UT Southern and UT Chattanooga other units and operations as needed. This position concurrently conducts multiple engagements to completion, including drafting, editing, and finalizing written reports.
The Senior Auditor primarily manages projects, leads project teams, or autonomously conducts audits, consulting advisory projects, investigations, and other projects that provide objective and independent evaluations to reduce the university’s risk and improve its operations. Occasionally, the Senior Auditor will join with project teams and perform duties as assigned by the project’s in-charge or supervisor or lead projects as the project in-charge or supervisor.
The Principal Auditor primarily conducts complex projects autonomously and occasionally will join with project teams and perform duties as assigned by the project’s in-charge or supervisor or lead projects as the project in-charge or supervisor. The Principal Auditor serves as a resource to the audit leadership team and campus management providing guidance and knowledge.

Required Qualifications (Auditor II)
- Bachelor's degree
- At least two years of progressively responsible experience in internal auditing, information systems auditing, consulting, investigations, or other applicable experience which involves evaluating controls over business processes, the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and compliance with policies/regulations/laws.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and ability to use other audit software.
- Ability to handle multiple ongoing projects and independently establish priorities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to exercise audit judgment when evaluating audit evidence and formulating recommendations.
- Willingness to travel (approximately 10-15%).
- Auditor II required qualifications plus
- An acceptable auditing-related professional certification, such as CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in internal auditing, information systems auditing, consulting, investigations, or other applicable experience which involves evaluating controls over business processes, the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and compliance with policies/regulations/laws.
- Willingness to travel (approximately 10-15%).
- Senior Auditor required qualifications plus
- At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in internal auditing, information systems auditing, consulting, investigations, or other applicable experience which involves evaluating controls over business processes, the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and compliance with policies/regulations/laws.
- Willingness to travel (approximately 10-15%).
- Master's degree in accounting or another related field.
- Experience in an internal audit function.
- Project management and/or supervisory experience.
- Experience working independently, reviewing workpapers, and managing multiple ongoing projects.
- Experience with data analytics tools.
- Experience auditing or performing similar work in higher education.
- Familiarity with externally sponsored research rules and regulations and/or NCAA bylaws.
