Job Description Summary
As a member of Penn Transit Services, the Dispatcher is responsible for assisting in the daily coordination of a comprehensive transportation system, which provides safe evening and late-night transit for the University of Pennsylvania community within specific service boundaries.

Job Responsibilities
  • Receive and dispatch requests for vehicular escorts during evening and late-night service hours.
  • Coordinate the efforts of the vehicular Shuttle Service with other transit services provided in the Penn Transit Services network, through the dynamic allocation of resources including people and vehicles to meet the demand for the various services as required.
  • Provide accurate information and courteous assistance to inquiries regarding Penn Transit Services and its regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain statistical data on the usage of services on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that the daily data capture is filled out properly at the end of the last shift each night.
  • Responsible for radio equipment, its proper use, care and secure storage in the central dispatch location at the end of each shift
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


The shift for this position is Monday-Friday from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

Qualifications
  • High School Grad/GE Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License from state of residence (within 90 days of hire). Must have Passenger Endorsement and the Air Brake Restriction must be removed. Must also maintain and possess a valid US DOT Medical Examiners Certificate.
  • Previous dispatching experience preferred.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, and Dispatching software preferred.
  • Strong customer service experience required.
