Job Description

Our People Services team provides leadership in the planning, integration, and implementation of human resource services and programs for all leaders and employees. Collectively with campus colleagues, HRservesas a strategic and trusted advisor,supportsa dynamic culture and workforce, andpursuescontinuous improvement through knowledge, collaboration, and leadership.

This HR professional role will have a broad array of HR knowledge. Reporting to the Associate Director of HR in Arts & Science, this role provides high-quality coaching, consulting, and guidance to our leaders/supervisor as well as faculty and staff. This role supports human resources initiatives within the college. The role assists in the execution of HR programs and administration relative to culture, change management, workplace planning and design, recruiting and onboarding, career development and performance management, employee relations, compensation and classification, and policy management for all faculty and staff within the college.

Recruiting & Onboarding
  • Serves as liaison between Recruiters and Hiring Managers, when needed.
  • Develops purpose-focused job postings.
  • Participates in the screening / interview / selection process as needed.
  • Coordinates Arts & Science Kickoff (ASK) as part of our new employee orientation and onboarding.
  • Supports onboarding process.
  • Creates and reviews job requisitions requests; submits information using the appropriate system.
  • Collaborates with the A & S fiscal team.
Career Development & Performance Management
  • Works with talent management initiative including development of learning labs and implementation.
· Partners with the Associate Director of HR in developing and leading training efforts or informational sessions and related communications including the annual performance review process, leave accrual changes, recruitment and onboarding, leadership development, performance management, compliance training, and other College & HR initiatives.
  • Supports annual performance review/appraisal & coordinates mid-year check-in process for staff.
  • Works with leadership and managers on performance improvement plans, as needed.
  • Collaborates with UM's Learning and Organizational Development team for training and development needs.
Employee Relations & Engagement
  • Develops and implements initiatives to enhance employee engagement for a purpose-focused culture.
  • Supports and develops programs/activities related to A & S's strategic goal of strengthening culture.
  • Monitors the "pulse" of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement.
  • Collaborates as an inclusive and enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment.
  • Investigates employee issues and consults on conflict resolution.
  • Coaches A& S leadership/managers/employees on job performance, compliance, university policy & practices matters.
  • Advises leaders/supervisors on corrective action based on fact-finding and evaluation of risks associated with specific actions in coordination with the Associate Director.
  • Oversees annual compliance training and other required initiatives.
  • Researches employee concerns and conducts an extensive review process.
  • Serves as a culture champion.
Compensation and Classification
  • Conducts job audits / analysis in conjunction with Compensation Experts; Develops position descriptions for units (functional descriptions).
  • Coaches on requests for pay changes and promotions including new positions and reclassification recommendations.
· Provides guidance and support in completing the Position Classification Questionnaire (PCQ)

Org Effectiveness, Culture, Change Management Execution
  • Advises leadership on change management & organizational effectiveness opportunities, methods, and tools.
  • Supports MU's Values Statement.
  • Supports and may coordinate employee engagement and recognition initiatives.
  • Act as an advocate for employees' concerns and serving as a liaison with supervisors/leaders.
HR Programs & Policy Implementation:
  • Advises leadership on applicable federal/state regulations and University policies.
  • Identifies workflow changes and process improvements.
Monitors, reports, and communicates HR metrics to ensure service targets are met.

Shift

Monday through Friday with flexible start and end time. A hybrid work schedule with a day of remote work is available after the successful completion of the onboarding/orientation process.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters' degree in human resources, business, communications, psychology, strategic leadership or other relevant degree programs; and five years of related experience demonstrating effective strategic partner responsibilities including employee relations and employee development experiences.

Successful candidates will possess competencies in HR knowledge, relationship management, ethical practices, consultation, and communication.

HR Certification through SHRM or HRCI.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $59,000 - $83,300 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
