Job Description Summary:
The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is seeking a Pulmonary Research Project Navigator to support complex clinical research portfolio in collaboration with our faculty, clinical research coordinators, and Supervisors. This position will provide a full range of administrative support to the business aspects in sustaining the Clinical Trial Management System (CRIS/VELOS), and overall support for the division's clinical research units. Key component of the Research Project Navigator is to sustain and enhance the centralize procedures pricing database matrix to allowed institution timely negotiation of contracts/agreements with sponsor. The individual in this position is expected to work closely with Investigators and Supervisors to accomplish the overall goals of the division.

Required Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree.

Work Experience
  • Two (2) years of experience in accounting, research administration and project management or related field.
  • Experience using Word, Excel and Access.


Preferred Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in business administration or related field.


Work Experience:
  • Experience working in Higher Education.


Skills:
  • Knowledge of budgets, particularly with submission of clinical research proposals.
  • Quantitative skills.


Job Duties:
  • Sustains and updates centralized procedure pricing database matrix for the Pulmonary Division. Review and analyze the database monthly and update the procedure costs as required.
  • Responsible for obtaining service quotes from external vendors and internal cores service providers for timely development of clinical research budgets.
  • Assist Principal Investigator's and Clinical Research Supervisor's with reviewing and inputting procedure costs into the budget development template using the centralized procedure pricing database matrix.
  • Provides support in the development of preliminary supporting documents (Biosketch, CV, Facilities and Resources) for faculty review and approval.
  • Provides support to the CRC teams with variety of services and technical support within WD and Velos.
  • Support the various CRC teams in the development of the Clinical Trial Management System (CRIS/VELOS) excel calendar template matches the Clinical Trial Agreement (CTA).
  • Participates with CRC Teams managing the clinical research studies by coordinating and participating in a variety of complex activities involved in the collection, compilation, and documentation of operational data for the division, while engaging in periodic quality assurance audits.
  • Supports Clinical Research Supervisor's in identifying areas of improvement in communication for greater efficiency and timely responses to external and internal customers to ensure sustainability of division operations while adhering to a high level of regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for reporting study-specific regulatory and safety outcomes across multiple studies to support Clinical Research Supervisor's reporting to the division leadership.
  • Engages with the Clinical Research Supervisor's in supporting complex clinical research activities, including planning, organizing, and communicating research studies within the overall scope of the area of research within the division.
  • Liaises effectively and professionally while interfacing with principal investigators, administrators, research staff, and Department Administration - Internal Medicine Research Office Units.
  • Ensures that all aspects of projects processes are handled in a timely manner to ensure compliance and continuance of research/clinical trials assuring the research is compliant with applicable federal, state, or international requirements, while adhering to policies of the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
