Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital (UH RBC) in Cleveland, Ohio is recruiting academic pediatric gastroenterologists at all academic ranks. We are seeking individuals with a broad range of interests and expertise including hepatology, nutrition, and gastrointestinal motility to participate in the development and leadership of clinical and research programs. This recruitment is part of the hospital and department's strategic plan for clinical and academic growth. Individuals with a successful track record in research will receive support for continuation of their research. Board eligibility or board certification in Pediatric Gastroenterology is required. Academic rank within the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine (CASE SOM) is commensurate with experience and achievement. Successful junior- and mid-level faculty candidates will be mentored by the Division Chief on their journey through a fulfilling career in pediatric gastroenterology.

The Division is home to seven full-time, Board-Certified Pediatric Gastroenterologists who as a team provide state of the art medical care through participation in multidisciplinary programs (e.g. aerodigestive disorders, cystic fibrosis, inflammatory bowel disease, myelomenigocele, CVL care) and performing cutting edge procedures (one of the first pediatric programs to offer transnasal endoscopy, TNE). The Division has an ACGME-accredited Fellowship Program. Also, within the Division are two nurse practitioners, six registered nurses, dietitian, and social worker. A psychologist is assigned to support the clinical activities of the Division. The Pediatric Gastroenterology Endoscopy Unit is fully staffed with nurses, technicians, and schedulers. The Unit is equipped to perform sedation-free TNE (esophagoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy); high resolution esophageal, antroduodenal, colonic, and anorectal manometry; impedance planimetry (Endoflip System); and all conventional endoscopic procedures. Endoscopies (non-TNE) are performed under monitored anesthesia care at our main hospital and in a UH RBC community-based endoscopy unit.

The Departments of Pediatrics at UH RBC and CASE SOM enjoy a wonderful academic reputation and provide resources for faculty to advance their careers. The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition during the past decade has been ranked consistently as one of the top 50 programs by the U.S. News & World Report Best Children's Hospitals survey and in 2024 UH RBC was one of six hospitals in the Midwest nationally ranked in all 10 specialties.

Excellent public schools, affordable housing, fine restaurants, professional sports, and multiple cultural and entertainment venues make Northeast Ohio a desirable place to live.
