Academic Anesthesiologist

As general anesthesiologists, the successful candidates will be responsible for providing general, regional and ambulatory anesthesia in the operating rooms and non-operating room locations of UC Davis Medical Center and may include OB and Women's Services. Responsibilities include patient care, participation in the general or OB call schedule, clinical education of medical students, residents and fellows and service to varying degrees according to rank. A proportion of the clinical duties may involve working as solo faculty. In addition to clinical care, teaching and service, Health Sciences Clinical Professor series faculty engage in scholarly or creative activities which derive from and support their primary responsibilities in clinical teaching, professional and service activities while Clinical X series faculty should have involvement in an extramurally funded research program and a publication list. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

Academic Pediatric Anesthesiologist

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing anesthesia care for pediatric and neonate patients undergoing routine and complex procedures in the UC Davis Children’s Hospital operating rooms, cardiology catheterization labs and radiology suites, and participate fully in the after-hours call system. An interest in pediatric cardiac anesthesia will be accommodated with the candidate caring for patients undergoing cardiac procedures during call hours and weekends. Responsibilities will include the education of medical students, residents and fellows, and allied healthcare professionals in all areas of general, ambulatory, and regional anesthesiology for pediatric patients in Northern California’s only Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, and Level 1 Children’s Surgery Center, as designated by the American College of Surgeons. The applicant will occasionally provide anesthesia services to adult patients, and a proportion of the clinical duties will involve working as solo faculty. Health Sciences Clinical Professor series faculty engage in scholarly or creative activities which derive from and support their primary responsibilities in clinical teaching and professional and service activities. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

Non-Academic Anesthesiologist

The Associate Physician (board eligible/board certified) reports directly to the clinical Vice Chair and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and exercises a peer relationship with other faculty, residents, fellows, medical students, nursing personnel, and ancillary personnel in the role of patient care. It is the expectation that physicians will work in a collegial manner combining clinical duties with instruction of residents, medical students, and certified registered nurse anesthetists. This position requires a thorough comprehension of the complex interactions between physiology, pathology, co-morbid medical conditions, pharmacology and procedural disruptions of homeostasis as such comprehension underlies the safe and effective practice of the discipline of anesthesiology. MSP providers must possess an understanding of quality-of-care standards as set forth by the American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) and UCDH to administer anesthesia to a wide range of patients undergoing surgical, obstetric, diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional procedures across UCDH locations.

Qualifications:

MD/DO, experience performing functions as an anesthesiologist, 50 hours of CME in last two years, DEA license or ability to obtain one, California Medical License by date of hire, graduation from an ACGME approved residency program and ABA board certification or eligibility, experience teaching medical students and/or residents and fellows (preferred but not mandatory), ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience documenting anesthetics and procedures in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is preferred. All applicants must successfully complete the UCDHS EMR training.
