Lecturer Human Anatomy and Physiology
We invite applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer position in biology, beginning in Fall 2023. The position is renewable with a contract period of three years. Lecturers can go up for promotion to Senior Lecturer after six years with five-year contracts. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in biology or a closely related field and the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. The candidate is expected to teach Human Anatomy and Physiology I & II with laboratory for health professions students, as well as lectures and labs in core biology classes. The candidate may also have the opportunity to teach upper-level classes for the biology major or for the general education curriculum. The course load is a lecture with a lab two out of three trimesters and a lecture with two labs in the other. In addition, the lecturer will have co-curricular responsibilities including coordinating an introductory biology lab and working with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. We seek a candidate who demonstrates a strong commitment to student-centered undergraduate education and we welcome applicants from traditionally underrepresented groups.
The Department of Biological Sciences includes 17 full-time faculty working and teaching in fields spanning the levels of organization in biological systems. Our teaching labs are well equipped and housed in the new Integrated Science and Engineering Center. In addition, The Department contributes to numerous interdisciplinary programs including Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Science and Policy, Environmental Engineering, and Nanoscience (https://www.union.edu/interdisciplinary-studies).
