GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accounting principles, practices, procedures and initiatives for specific division(s) of the company to comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
GL Responsibilities
• Responsible for all aspects of month-end, quarterly and annual closing including journal entries and preparation of required financial statements
• Provide consultation to management in regard to recommendations for improvements in operations by monitoring and analyzing monthly operating results and capital expenditures
• Produce accurate cost accounting reports as needed
Fixed Asset & Lease Responsibilities
• Maintain fixed asset listings
• Coordinate with subsidiaries to maintain documentation
• Maintain lease listing
Ad-hoc Responsibilities
• Assist with the internal & external audit processes
• Complete various contract reporting requirements
• Assist with financial analysis on specific division(s) as needed
• Assist with corporate annual report filings, budgets and forecasts
• Ad hoc reporting as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess 3+ years of Accounting experience. Public accounting experience a plus. Possession of at least a post-secondary degree or a Master's in Accounting or Business Administration is preferred. Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must possess knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures. Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and contact management software. Ability to manage and successful work under tight time constraints. Must possess a valid state motor vehicle license and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record. Must be able to travel when necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the vendors, sales representatives, management, staff, and the public in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to use a telephone for communication. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Use office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and facsimile machines. Ability to communicate in writing in a clear, concise and effective manner. Sit or stand for extended time periods. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Tolerate inclement weather, including excessive heat and cold. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/ construction chemicals and solvents. Willingness and ability to travel.
