The Director of Development will be the key point person for the Seaplane Foundation's giving programs. The person will be responsible for infusing passion and inspiring philanthropic giving to support the current and future needs of the Seaplane Foundation and the seaplane community at large.

As the Director of Development this individual is responsible for managing the Foundation's fundraising efforts, maintaining donor relationships, providing the Foundation board and staff with the briefings and introductions necessary to have productive discussions/meetings with potential donors, and creating marketing and outreach educational materials to support the Foundation's giving programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1) Lead our team's efforts to educate constituents with the opportunities and challenges facing the seaplane community now and into the future and by communicating to these constituents how the Foundation works to create a safer environment for seaplane pilots and their passengers, ensure that the seaplane pilot population maintains a sustainable size, and how we can mitigate loss of seaplane access to waterways through proactive stewardship of the environment.

2) Collaborate with the Executive Director, staff, Foundation board and fundraising committee on the development of a comprehensive strategy to set fundraising campaign goals and objectives.

3) Lead the implementation of monthly and annual giving programs, planned gifts, giving campaigns and events.

4) Set and achieve annual giving program monetary goals.

5) Provide regular progress reports via personalized letters, thank you cards, emails and enewsletters to current and prospective donors.

6) Provide regular training to the Executive Director, staff, Foundation board and development committee to increase our knowledge of fundraising and facilitate the continuous improvement of our fundraising strategies.

7) Provide for personalized, white glove, experience-oriented interactions between the Foundation and our high net worth and ultra-high net worth constituents.

8) Monitor giving trends and the crossover of constituent giving to other non-profits, both within and outside of aviation.

9) Manage a grant application program either in-house or outsourced to specific grant professional consultants.


* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to proactively prioritize workflow and meet deadlines.

* Proven front-line fundraising experience with an emphasis on individual relationship-building skills.

* Effective communications approach through strong listening, speaking and writing skills.

* Team management.

* A strong desire for both personal growth and the growth of the organization.

* Experience with donor management systems such as Blooomerang.
