Job Description
The Department of Campus Operations is responsible for delivering essential day-to-day services that support students, faculty, staff and visitors at Sarah Lawrence College. These services include but not limited to, general maintenance, capital investments, building access, fleet management, procurement and auxiliary services.
The Assistant Director (Full Time, Monday-Friday, in person and occasional weekends) will work closely with the Director of Campus Operations and Auxiliary Services to manage daily tasks while addressing critical departmental functions through policy revisions, budget management and compliance oversight.
Essential Duties Summary

- Assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures.
- Provide strategic support for the College’s 1card system, the College’s official identification, door access and payment card.
- Serve as the accounting contact to municipal departments, local and regional contractors, and other vendors as assigned.
- Ensure proper credentials and up-to-date training for all fleet members
- Supervise approved van drivers
- Ensure regular maintenance on all vehicles
- Maintain reports to assist with budgeting, schedules, maintenance and fleet progress
- Escalate issues, concerns regarding drivers and fleet to Director of Campus Operations and Auxiliary Services.
- Under advisement of the AVP and Director, analyze and project the department’s annual budget.
- Develop and support budget trackers for Capital Projects
- Review contracts on a regular basis to make determinations related to fiscal responsibility and scope of services.
- Assist with request for proposal and other College-wide bids
- Analyze all incoming requisitions and contracts ensuring that all necessary information and documentation is provided and that all requests adhere to College purchasing and policies.
- Verify funding source is sufficient to cover the cost of purchase.
- Work with suppliers to determine their preferred method of reimbursement and coordinate those preferences with Accounts Payable.
- Provide procurement card trainings for new card holders.

- Bachelor’s degree required, along with relevant work experience
- Ability to apply solution-oriented methods across all of their work and responsibilities
- Excellent, organization and communication skills with a keen sense of detail and follow-up
- High degree of initiative and ability to build and maintain strong relationships
