Deputy Clerk II
- GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The position is in the CRIMINAL Division. The Deputy Clerk is responsible for covering court and preparing orders. Entering and updating information in CCMS, FAS, and CIS. Interacting with Judges, law enforcement officers, attorneys, and defendants on a day-to-day basis. Assist co-workers within the office and other offices as needed by answering phones and helping in any area as needed in the Criminal Division. Assist defendants and their families. Direct the defendant to the appropriate court ordered programs. Assist with preparing restricted licenses. Assist Law Enforcement Officers and agencies with any requests., filing search warrants, and obtaining information. Operate all equipment as necessary. Duties require accuracy and a close attention to detail as well as confidentiality. Performs other related duties as required.
- REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
- EducationRequired: High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by business school or college level courses or training in business administration or a related field.ExperienceRequired: Preferred applicants will have judicial system experience in the Commonwealth of Virginia, legal experience, professional office experience, and customer service experience.Certifications/ LicensesNoneKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge of the Circuit Court system and its operations
- Thorough knowledge of standard office terminology, procedures and techniques
- Ability to operate and instruct others on the operation of a variety of office equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with the public and other employees
- Ability to perform arithmetical computations
- Ability to read and understand legal documents
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information handled within the office
Additional RequirementsSubject to a complete criminal history and Child Protective Services background search with acceptable results.
