Quinsigamond Community College (QCC), the largest community college in Central Massachusetts serving over 13,000 students in degree and certificate programs, adult education and workforce development. Job Description:
General Statement:
Quinsigamond Community College (QCC), the largest community college in Central Massachusetts serving over 10,000 students in degree and certificate programs, adult education and workforce development, seeks several dynamic, student-focused Academic Coaches/Counselors. QCC is committed to 100% student success as evidenced by its ambitious strategic plan. This commitment is furthered by a college-wide Equity Appraisal-currently underway-designed to assist the College to better serve students who have historically been underserved and underrepresented in higher education. Academic Advising is a holistic wraparound support team designed to promote students' success in meeting their goals of employment and/or transfer after successful completion of their program of study.
Instructors will teach course(s) within a specific discipline to a diverse student population at our Downtown Worcester campus surgical technology simulation/skills labs and clinical sites in our service area. Responsibilities will include instructional preparation, assessment of student performance and assistance to students.
The full-time workload for this position may take place in Worcester or any another QCC instructional location.
Supervision Received
The full-time faculty member reports directly to the Assistant Dean of the School of Healthcare.
Supervision Exercised
The full-time faculty member exercises supervision over personnel assigned to him/her.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide classroom, laboratory and/or team teaching instruction and facilitate individualized and non-traditional approaches to learning as appropriate.
- Develop and/or revise instructional materials with other faculty members.
- Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and abilities.
- Demonstrate professional surgical practice through the ability to teach in the Surgical Technology laboratory/clinical.
- Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes.
- Actively participate in ongoing curriculum & program review.
- Conduct academic advising and assistance of students.
- Participate in college service activities in concert with the provisions of the MCCC Agreement.
- Actively support the teaching and learning process; practicing honesty and integrity in and out of the classroom; strive to create and support a student-centered environment while fostering academic innovation and excellence.
- Work actively with other areas of the college to ensure a spirit of college wide collaboration, collegiality, civility, and teamwork. Respect the function of dissent in an academic institution while advancing a collegial atmosphere of campus collaboration.
- Embrace the ideals of diversity and inclusiveness and support the equal rights of all people by advancing the understanding and appreciation of differences including age, race, gender, ability, religious convictions, socio-economic status, ethnic heritage, or sexual orientation.
- Provide flexible, responsive and high quality service to all, be they students, community, or staff, and continuously assess processes and procedures and revise accordingly.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree, or associate degree with a minimum of five years of documented teaching experience
- Documented education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum
- design and program planning
- Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency
- Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA) CST, CSFA or CST/CSFA
- Have a minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.

- Master's Degree
- Possesses proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning
- Understanding of community colleges, its students and philosophy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary
Minimum starting salary for Bachelor's level candidate is $45,273. Anticipated annual starting salary range is $45,273- $47,579 and includes a complete benefit package. Actual salary will be determined in accordance with classification determination of MCCC/MTA salary schedule commensurate with education and experience.
