Overview
The Department of Physics at Princeton University is looking for a lab technician to work with one of our experimental atomic physics groups with experience in mechanical, optical and electronic projects. Typical projects involve designing and fabricating mechanical structures, performing optical alignment and wiring electronic circuits.
Responsibilities
- Designing and machining mechanical structures and actuators
- Assembling and aligning optical systems
- Wiring of simple analog electronic circuit
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physics and prior work experience in an academic/research environment is required.
- Experience with mechanical CAD software and use of machine shop equipment is required.
- Experience with electronic and optical test equipment and knowledge of optical and electronic design software (e.g. Zeemax, LTSpice) is preferred.
- Ability to work autonomously while also taking direction and constructive feedback well.
- Ability to lift at least 20 pounds.
- Willingness and patience to both learn and train.
- Demonstrated initiative, excellent organizational skills, ability to work within a team and to work independently, managing multiple priorities simultaneously within tight timelines.
