Senior Maintenance Technician
General Description:
This position is responsible for maintaining a quality, comfortable, and safe environment for students, faculty, and staff by utilizing knowledge and experience as a master mechanic qualified in all trades, providing timely response in support of the college mission. Provide administration of contracts that are in force at the campus, ensuring contractors comply with Federal, State, and College regulations and procedures through inspection and evaluation of contractors. Exercise independent judgment in applying prescribed policies, procedures and technical knowledge in these areas. This is a mid-level to senior position.
Campus assignment may vary short term or long term based on the needs of the department.
Duties and Tasks:
- The duties include daily inspections and maintenance of campus buildings; performs minor building repairs; responds to work orders to make minor repairs to electric, plumbing and mechanical systems.
- The position will entail working in diverse college settings to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products.
- Candidate must be able to work with other trades.
Required KSAs:
- Ability to work from heights and ladders.
- Knowledge of building codes
- Ability to read technical documents including blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs. on a regular basis
- Ability to work in both hot and cold weather for long periods of time.
- Able to participate in snow removal & other emergency duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s license with insurable driving record.
- High School graduate or GED
- Some experience working with blueprints, diagrams, or sketches.
- Some experience working in a commercial building setting.
- Some experience with residential and commercial wiring.
- Some experience in several trades, primarily electrical.
- Availability to work any shift required
Preferred Qualifications:
- AAS Electrical Technology or related field OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Some prior experience in educational facility.
- Some previous experience with a computerized maintenance management system
