Our STEM career opportunities include a wide range of disciplines like biology, chemistry,
physics, advanced materials, environmental science, numerous engineering specialties,
mathematics, robotics, computer science, and many more.
Our civilian STEM team provides full life-cycle support of naval aviation, weapons and systems
operated by sailors and marines. This support includes work in research, design, development,
systems engineering, testing and evaluation.
These opportunities are located at NAVAIR headquarters in Patuxent River, Md., and at
Jacksonville and Orlando, FL; Lakehurst, NJ; Cherry Point, NC; and, China Lake, Point Magu, and
San Diego, CA.
Duties:
Your experience and education will determine the grade level and salary of the position you will
be selected to fill. Your responsibilities will include duties in areas such as:
- Research, development, test, and evaluation of cutting-edge weapons systems
technologies, including extensive laboratory environments and weapons range test centers. - Technological development and engineering enhancement of launch, landing and recovery
capabilities of aircraft from maritime platforms - Scientific and technological support of simulation-based learning activities and human
performance innovation to include virtual reality, modeling, and simulation technology.
Note: Duties will be assigned depending on the qualifications of the applicant. As proficiency is
gained, assignments will be progressively more complex; require increasing substantive
knowledge, and more independence.
Qualifications:
Entry-level STEM opportunities require a degree in a corresponding disciple of the job you are
seeking. Specific minimum course and curriculum requirements (i.e., engineering, sciences, IT,
etc.) will be defined for each specific STEM position.
Mid-career and senior level STEM opportunities require a degree plus experience, which
typically is defined as specialized experience that equips you with the professional knowledge,
skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or
related to the work of the position to be filled.
Salary:
Range $60,000-$90,000 per year (salary will vary by location and is also based upon the
grade level of the job) plus a comprehensive benefits package.
