This position is located 30 miles southwest of Farmington, New Mexico on the Navajo Indian Reservation. The mine produces approximately 5 million tons of coal per year and is the sole supplier of coal to the Four Corners Power Plant.

Position Summary:
Responsible for the direct management and handling of the warehousing operations at the mine. This includes accountability for the coordination of the flow of parts and supplies through receiving, storage, issuing and shipping, as well as adherence to safety and company policies and procedures. This position will accomplish an effective inventory oversight through strong leadership and decision-making skills. A focus of providing and promoting internal and external customer service is essential.
Essential Duties:
- Supervise the daily activities of Warehouse personnel to meet the safety regulations and polices and productivity needs of the Company.
- Establish expectations with warehouse staff to maximize efficiencies and productivity between warehouse personnel, the mine site team and other warehouses within the company to meet coal delivery schedules at the lowest cost per ton.
- Develop and oversee the Warehouse annual budget in conjunction and coordination with the Business Manager, Maintenance, Purchasing, Warehouse, Accounts Payable and Accounting.
- Establish and maintain records for all warehouse transactions, overseeing the file and folder structure and document storage.
- Maintain communications with maintenance personnel to ensure proper functions between departments are working within acceptable standards.
- Communicate effectively (clear, correct, complete, concrete, concise, and courteous) on inventory concerns that would impact the Company.
- Perform administrative duties associated with supervision, such as, recording time worked, evaluating individual performance, disciplining unacceptable behavior and assisting individuals with performance problems and development.
- Maintain firm control over inventory levels to meet the supply and demand of parts and materials when needed.
- Ensure warehouse processes are consistent to achieve an efficient and safe working environment that complies with MSHA law and regulations, company safety procedures, and state and federal regulations.
- Achieve full warehouse optimization through continual improvements.
- Schedule and oversee cyclic inventory counts identify discrepancies, and report findings to control the financial business assets and their impact on the mine operation.
- Advise and work effectively with the Purchasing/AP supervisor to bring about best practices between the warehouse, purchasing, accounts payable and accounting.
- Assist with development of specifications and sources of supply for equipment purchases and projects.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and spreadsheets for employees, management and suppliers.
- Maintain up to date spreadsheets that pertain to the department.
- Understand the value of and expectation to safeguard the assets of the company.
- Mentor, coach and develop all warehouse personnel.
- Personal accountability for own actions and decisions and demonstrate commitment to excellence and accomplishing work in an ethical, efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Gather input (facts) and analyze, design, evaluate, and implement quality process changes.
- Demonstrate effective use of listening skills and display openness to other people’s ideas and thoughts.
- Identify challenges, plan ways to implement change and be a change agent for the department and company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain management or related field.
- Six years’ experience in warehouse and/or purchasing and shipping, with increasing responsibilities and promotions.
- Minimum of four years’ experience in direct management of teams of at least 5-6 employees in a Warehouse environment.
- Must be able to fulfill physical demands outlined below.
- Demonstrated experience in managing employee development training and staff direction and motivation.
- Demonstrated expertise and application of warehouse procedures, practices, and principles.
- Demonstrated expertise in accurately maintaining inventory records, spreadsheets and all other Warehouse data.
- Demonstrated experience controlling inventory levels, identifying discrepancies and understanding and reporting impact on financial business assets.
- Experience with mining or related environment.
- Demonstrated strong math and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated experience in equipment maintenance.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively interact with other supervisors, staff members, management as well as vendors and suppliers.
- Must be able to perform effectively in an environment that has frequent interruptions, multiple demands, and changing priorities.
- Possess high level of personal and professional integrity.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Possess strong work ethic and commitment to achieve quality through attention to detail.
- Demonstrated proficiency and/or documented training in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- Knowledge of tribal, federal, state, and company health and safety policies and regulations.
- Demonstrated skills in preparing and performing effective presentations for employees, management, and suppliers.
- Demonstrated experience creating, implementing, and managing new department goals that improve the department.
- Applicant must provide written letters of recommendations from his or her past two supervisors, who are willing to confirm their recommendations and attest to applicant’s analytical and problem-solving skills, management skills, multi-taking, and working collaboratively.
- If Applicant is a past or current employee or contractor, his/her personnel file and evaluations will be considered. Employees with poor performance records, verbal warnings, and disciplinary actions that were not satisfactorily resolved or whose file demonstrates a failure to meet qualifications will not be considered.
