Job Description

The Missouri Protoplex is seeking an energetic, influential and skilled strategic thinker and communicator as a Communications and Event Planning Officer who will be responsible for leading marketing and communications work to support the Protoplex's mission and goals and its research centers.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders in designated research centers and strategic partners including industry, state and federal agencies, higher education institutions, and community colleges. Meet with research center directors to identify program or project goals and assess marketing and communication needs from start to finish (including ROI reporting).
  • Develop comprehensive marketing and communication plans from defining the objective to developing the tactics and timeline to targeted audiences that will achieve goals. Strategize thoughtful social media presence and integrate social media into campaigns seamlessly.
  • Collaborate and develop effective working relationships with internal and external constituency groups to coordinate multi-channel campaigns across the region to support enrollment success of workforce development initiatives. Work closely with the university marketing and communications team to ensure all Protoplex marketing, promotion, and communications activities align with university marketing strategies.
  • Prepare written articles, reports, news releases and social media posts to raise awareness of the Protoplex and related initiatives. Develop, manage and monitor social media accounts for the Protoplex, including photography and video clips.Produce and manage content for the Protoplex website.Plan or coordinate the planning of outreach events and other activities to promote the Protoplex.Design and produce graphic materials for print and/or digital distribution.Use project management system(s) and marketing software (Click Up, Adobe Creative, Social Media Platforms, WordPress and DotDigital) to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget and of top quality.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets for communications and event planning initiatives.
  • Develop, articulate, and lead the implementation of long and short-term goals to meet workforce development initiatives objectives.
  • Train other departments on how they can support Protoplex growth and awareness of its capacities.
  • Collect data, peer assessments, and research strategies to provide relevant reports for institutional decision making and communicate findings to various groups. Evaluate and assess communications and marketing trends and/or strategies through research, focus groups, and other methods to continually identify new opportunities with the University's and Protoplex's visions.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality media content
  • Master's degree preferred (MBA, Marketing, Communications, Education, or a related field)
  • Working knowledge of media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, Terminal 4, WordPress, following projects in a project management system and previous experience with Wrike or Clickup desired
  • Experience with strategic communications and/or marketing campaign development
  • Highly proficient in MS Office 365, including SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams
  • Have exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Be detail oriented and recommend process improvements to the communications initiatives
  • Analyze situations, problem solve, address issues, and make reasonable decisions
  • Develop content ideas in multiple formats and quickly execute high-quality content in those areas
  • Juggle a variety of projects, shifting priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Have a high regard for customer service by responding to requests and explaining the details of campaign strategies
  • When issues arise (such as missed executions, incorrect content, insensitive design), identify the relevant information to communicate to leadership and effectively articulate these issues both in writing and in person
