Milwaukee Valve Company is looking for a 2nd Shift CNC Operator Trainee to join our Prairie Du Sac, WI team in Department 531. This position has a starting hourly wage of $19.00, plus an additional 4.5% shift premium.

*This position is eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus. The first half ($1,000) is payable after successful completion of the orientation period and the second half ($1,000) is payable after one year of employment.*

The regularly scheduled hours for this position are 2:30PM - 11:00PM, Monday through Friday. Overtime may become a possibility or even required. When working overtime, the regularly scheduled shift is adjusted by 1-2 hours at either the beginning or end of the regularly scheduled shift. Overtime may also be requested or mandatory on Saturday as well.

Summary - The CNC Operator Trainee is responsible for learning the safe operation of various CNC machines, assisting with maintaining operations where setup has been completed. The Trainee must obtain the ability to read and comprehend blueprints, perform inspection of machined parts by the use of micrometers, calipers, fixed gauges and other various measuring
instruments. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to which competency will be measured include the following and are required for possible advancement:

  • Operation of various types of CNC machines producing machined parts.
  • Ability to comprehend verbal/written instructions. 
  • Ability to comprehend/interpret blueprints and specifications. 
  • Use of micrometers, calipers and fixed gauges, etc.
  • Assisting with maintaining operations.
  • Routine maintenance of machines including oil and lubrication.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of work area and equipment in a prescribed manner.
  • Personal measuring and hand tools are required, list will be provided at time of interview, employee evaluation or upon request.
  • All work subject to final inspection.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively.

Mathematical Skills - Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems that arise in standard situations.

Stand or walk 100% of the shift. Frequent bending and lifting 30-40 lb. unassisted and up to 70lbs occasionally with or without assistance.
