Position Overview
Merrimack College's Winston School of Education and Social Policy invites applications for 2 full-time, open rank, non-tenure track faculty positions to teach in the Bachelor of Arts and Master's of Science Programs in Criminology and Criminal Justice (CCJ). These are a nine-month appointment commencing in September 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in criminology and criminal justice, including introduction to criminology, research methods, the criminal justice system, criminal justice policy, and/or electives in criminology. This department has future opportunities for leadership positions.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop courses for CCJ programs, ensuring they align with emerging trends.
- Teach four courses per semester (16 contact hours).
- Actively participate in departmental and institutional activities.
- Stay current with emerging trends and advancements in criminology and criminal justice, to ensure course content is up-to-date and aligned with the profession's needs.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to promote interdisciplinary initiatives and experiential learning opportunities.
- Mentor and guide students toward academic and professional success.
- Maintain regular office hours for student consultations.
- Collaborate in a collegial and professional manner to foster a supportive and positive working environment.
- A Ph.D. in criminology, criminal justice, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Work or educational experience in criminology or criminal justice fields.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
- Effective use of technology in the classroom.
- Demonstrated interest in and experience with innovative pedagogies.
- Understanding of and experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in CCJ and beyond
