Duties and Responsibilities

Classroom Technology Support (CTS) is responsible for supporting classroom and learning spaces across Loyola's campuses including usage questions and physical device troubleshooting. The current work modality within Information Technology Services is a hybrid work environment with on-campus and remote components. The remote component is defined by the manager and as appropriate for the position.

Primary responsibilities include the following:
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and basic repairs of classrooms, learning spaces, and large venue areas
  • Monitors and supports the operation of video and audio conferencing systems.
  • Recommends replacement and upgrades to equipment and software as necessary.
  • Investigate equipment and work with vendors to develop technology recommendations and specifications for the University.
  • Monitors and tracks classroom technology assets.
  • Provides classroom technology training to technicians, student employees, and other University departments responsible for academic technology.
  • Provides technical support for digital signage server, clients, and displays.
  • Responds to users' anxiety with calmness, sensitivity and respect, remaining focused on resolving user needs.
  • Serves as a resource and consultant to the University community regarding classroom technology information as it relates to an academic setting.
  • In collaboration with the Classroom Technology Manager, writes documentation for technology that is used in the classrooms, learning spaces, and large venue areas.
  • Provide support on other technology needs for the Loyola community as needed.
  • Conduct all interactions with colleagues, end-users, and vendors courteously and respectfully.
  • Flexible schedule required for evening and weekend support as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, digital media, computer science or related field and at least two years of directly relevant experience.

Availability:
The majority of the work for this position will occur within the standard work week. However, this position will be on-call, and may need to work during off-hours to respond to problems, maintenance, and scheduled projects.

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses

None required, although any type of certification demonstrating expertise in project management, computers, multimedia, or control systems is a plus.

Computer Skills

This position requires familiarity with a variety of technical concepts, practices, and procedures in both computer and media industries. Individuals should also have a sound understanding of operating systems (Windows, Macintosh), presentation software, and specialized tools like whiteboards, document cameras, clickers, and tablet devices. Some experience with Loyola core systems such as Crestron, Zoom, Panopto, Microsoft 365, and Sakai is a plus.
