The required schedule will be 3 AM to 11:30 AM Monday - Friday. Also, must be able to work occasional holidays, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
Brief Description:
Under broad guidance, the Lab Assistant is responsible for:
a. Providing analytical support and assisting with regulatory testing in accordance with approved procedures to meet Virginia Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (VELAP) and other regulatory or program requirements
b. Performing analysis on non-regulatory and sample preparation for regulatory samples as required
c. Preparing analytical glassware for all sections of the laboratory using specialized handling techniques, including solvent and acid rinsing to minimize contamination for low level analysis for compliance according to documented procedures
d. Working with all sections of the laboratory to independently prioritize work to ensure glassware preparation is completed in alignment with the analytical procedure to ensure sections have resources needed to meet customer and sample holding time requirements.
e. Ensuring sample containers are cleaned in a timely manner for sample kit preparation and delivery to HRSD treatment plants for regulatory, process and research sample collection.
Job Requirements:
Education

High school diploma or GED required
Desired
High school and/or college level courses in physical or life sciences, algebra, and computer applications training
b.Experience
1.Required
Two years courier experience or previous experience in an environmental laboratory.
2.Training Levels
Personnel are considered fully qualified with a high school diploma or GED and 2 years courier experience or previous experience in an environmental laboratory.
The following training levels and years of experience are established for personnel who are not fully qualified:
a)Grade 4a – High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of courier or environmental laboratory experience
b)Grade 4b – High School Diploma or GED and no courier or previous environmental laboratory experience
c.Special Licenses
Required
Valid Driver’s License from state of residence
Forklift Operator License issued by HRSD
