Motion Graphics Artist, Digital Video Franchises
USA TODAY Studios, the USA TODAY NETWORK’s premiere multi-platform studio, creates brand-defining series and special projects for an array of audiences and platforms.
We are looking for a Motion Graphics Artist to join a small art department responsible for creating and maintaining the look, feel, and overall brand presence of our portfolio.
The position is preferably a hybrid position based in our New York City office or our company headquarters near Washington DC, once conditions allow, but remote candidates will also be considered.
The candidate must have a proven artistic ability to create motion graphics packages, animated infographics, .mogrtfiles and other animations from scratch.
Demonstrated experience creating premium digital content is essential and experience at an agency and / or production studio is preferred.
The ideal candidate is a creative, passionate storyteller with a sharp attention to detail, experience with a range of content including but not limited to lifestyle, entertainment, sports, personal finance, news, and politics.
We’re looking for a candidate who is an excellent visual storyteller and artist, excited to brainstorm and create new techniques.
The right candidate will be a team player with excellent communication skills, quick to respond to requests and assignments, receptive to feedback, and a self-starter who can juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities:
- Create and implement animations, graphics, and graphic packages for video franchises and other special projects.
- Assist with development and creation of other brand assets.
- mogrtfiles) for USA Today Studios productions.
- Collaborate across editorial, production, distribution, product, and sales, to ensure delivery of elements and visual consistency across the portfolio of productions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of motion graphics experience at an agency, media organization or publisher.
- Advanced proficiency with After Effects, Photoshop, Premiere, and the Adobe Creative Suite production workflow.
- Demonstrated talent in creating illustrations and animations from scratch.
- Excellent communications skills, online and in person.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a passionate and highly motivated team of videographers, reporters, editors and producers.
- Working knowledge of the best approaches to content for variety of digital platforms, including USA TODAY digital platforms, social channels, YouTube, OTT, and emerging platforms.
- Editorial storytelling experience preferred.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $38,700 and $93,150. Variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, location, and union representation, if applicable.
