COURT COMMISSIONER

The Rock County Circuit Court is seeking a full-time Circuit Court Commissioner. The position requires presiding all types of hearings handled by the Court Commissioner pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes and as assigned by the Rock County Court Judges, with emphasis on criminal and small claims matters. This is a challenging professional position for an individual who possesses: a thorough knowledge and understanding of circuit court legal proceedings; extensive knowledge and understanding of pertinent judicial procedures; skill in analyzing and appraising facts, evidence and applying legal principles; the capacity to manage full caseloads under time pressures; and, the ability to work effectively and harmoniously with judges, staff, attorneys, litigants and the general public.

The following are required for this position: graduation from an accredited law school; admission to practice law in the State of Wisconsin; good standing with the State Bar of Wisconsin; at least three years’ experience as an attorney; extensive knowledge of the types of criminal, family, and small claims hearings conducted by court commissioners; and, a comprehensive understanding of courtroom practice.
