Colgate University is seeking a collaborative, organized, and motivated person for a Technology Event Specialist position.

The Classroom, Digital Media, and Events (CDME) team provides direct support to students, faculty, staff and alumni. Our expert team supports over 200 learning and event spaces on and off campus facilitating audio visual installations, maintenance, repair, technical event support, education and consultations. Our team is in the field, front facing representatives of Colgate University’s IT organization In this role you will work closely with other Classroom and Event Support Specialists and our Engagement and Support team to support our students, staff, and faculty and work with the rest of the ITS teams as escalations and projects require.

Accountabilities:
This position will support large and small events across campus, many of which are in the late afternoon and evenings, to ensure the sound delivery of video and audio programming, presentations, classroom content and other digital media. You will be operating audio visual equipment in classrooms, auditoriums and large event spaces, working with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff. Constant communication, excellent customer service and professionalism are required.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and inclusively with a diverse team and serve a diverse population.
  • Operation of classroom technology and sound equipment.
  • Setup, operate, troubleshoot, break down and secure AV equipment.
  • Accountable for interpreting diagrams and drawings and setting up equipment as specified.
  • Responsible for assisting with live and studio recordings, live streaming, lecture capture and campus wide seminal events as needed.
  • Work with, and provide direction to, student employees.

Professional Experience/Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve, work as a team player and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of Mac and Windows operating systems.
  • Desire to learn and adapt in an ever changing environment.
  • A current valid driver’s license, in accordance with the University’s Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle use Policy is required

Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 6 months experience working with AV Equipment is preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Work Schedule:
This position is slated to work 20 hours per week. Individuals will be required to work some evenings from approximately 6:00pm – 9:00pm and on weekends occasionally at noon and more typically from 4:00pm – 9:00pm.
