This is a full time position employed by Oneida Healthcare and will report for part time work at the Colgate University campus.

Accountabilities:
The Certified Athletic Trainer is primarily responsible for Division 1 Rugby and will also have other outreach responsibilities at the high school and collegiate level to provide care, and education to injured athletes; to in include attending sporting events to provide first-line orthopedic care. This person will work very closely with the overseeing Orthopedic Surgeon and Practice Manager. Responsibilities include:
  • Providing quality care to patients by accurately determining and communicating the patient's current and previous medical conditions, utilizing triage skills, taking patient histories, performing initial evaluations, and providing instructions on exercise prescriptions.
  • Providing required higher-level of orthopedic care to injured athletes at contracted sporting events.
  • Demonstrating and maintaining a professional demeanor in high stress situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff, and families.
  • Acting as a liaison between primary care physicians, specialists, NYS Department of Education Administration, athletes, and their parents.
  • Providing educational sessions for coaches, parents, and athletes on a variety of sports medicine topics.
  • Educating patients on proper post-operative wound and dressing care as well as providing gait training and crutch fitting.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed medical record of injury tracking and progress.


Professional Experience/Qualifications
  • NYS Athletic Training License
  • Current BLS and CPR Certification

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of related experience is preferred





Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training
