ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Aviation Department manages and operates the Phoenix Airport System which consists of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Deer Valley Airport, and Goodyear Airport. The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has consistently been ranked as one of the top ten busiest airports in the nation. Serving more than 125,000 passengers daily, with over 1,200 flights per day, the airport has a total economic impact of more than $38 billion per year.
The Facilities and Services, Facilities Maintenance Aviation Supervisor III is currently responsible for 39 staff members. Responsibilities include contract supervision, administration of a preventive maintenance program, conducting preliminary surveys of proposed projects including blueprint evaluation, costing, material procurement, and coordination of remodeling schedules with other work sections. Preventive maintenance, work order repair, and responding to trouble calls for Aviation properties are the critical tasks for this Section. The position also responds to emergency situations, evaluates building damage and takes necessary steps to protect City property, develops and forecasts Section budget. Additionally, this position will monitor maintenance performance KPI's and standards, investigate unusual trends, and recommend necessary adjustments as needed.
This position reports to an Aviation Superintendent in the Facilities & Services Division and serves as a Section Head (Manager) for the Building Maintenance Section.
Duties include:
- A variety of leadership, managerial and technical tasks including but not limited to: Supervision, leadership, and mentorship of direct reports such as Building Maintenance Foremen and Building Maintenance Workers.
- Budget and contract development and management.
- Human resource management.
- Report writing, including developing and implementing formal procedures.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participation in construction and project management.
- Responding to and addressing customer concerns, face to face and through written correspondence.
- Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations within the workgroup and in the performance of their section's duties.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Strong understanding of Federal Aviation Administration regulations, Aviation industry standards, State statutes, and City ordinances.
- Strong knowledge of hand and power tools and materials used in all facets of building maintenance and construction work.
SALARY
$58,032.00 - $88,379.20 annually. Candidates may be hired up to $88,379.20 depending upon qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Four years of progressively responsible experience in airport activities or technically specific areas.
- Two of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
- Associate's degree in public, business, or airport administration or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience working with Microsoft Office software is also highly desirable.
- Experience using SAP to initiate purchasing transactions.
- Experience managing large budgets and contracts.
- Working irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.
