What you'll do:

  • Supervision of the Billing and Insurance Specialists 
  • Ensure all team members are following national, state, and payer guidelines
  • Assist with Billing Procedures and Processes to ensure that all CMS and insurance guidelines are being followed 
  • Track and monitor claims data with accurate information and making recommendations to improve processes 
  • Responsible for maintaining insurance receivables at national standards 
  • Claims management, including ensuring all claims and follow up are completed timely and accurately 
  • Tracking key performance indicators by generating reports for the claims department and ensuring that all deadlines are met 
  • Responding to billing questions and assisting and troubleshooting problems as needed 
  • Assist with alignment of EMR use/processes as related to billing 
  • Communication with the department team leads and director on issues that need to be addressed 
  • Take action on internal audits regarding the Billing and Insurance Specialists, providing documentation to the Director of Medical Billing and Contracting 
  • Managing workloads and escalations 
  • Training/Coaching team members as needed on areas of growth 
  • Monitoring staffing needs, making recommendations for changes to current staffing; interviewing, hiring and training of new team members
  • Complete annual reviews and mid-year check ins for direct reports; documentation of performance concerns 
  • Collaborate with other department Team Leads to set department schedules for team members 
  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll need to be successful:

  • High School Diploma with 5+ years experience working in a health care practice setting or health insurer, and Associate’s Degree preferred 
  • Working knowledge of procedure & diagnosis coding, billing third party payers, reimbursement practices and healthcare billing 
  • The ability to recognize individual and system problems and to communicate such information to the director 
  • Strong verbal and written communication with families and staff
  • Work independently and as a team member 
  • Strong organization, planning, attention to detail, proactive and innovative problem solving skills 
  • Ability to triage and assess urgency of priorities, make decisions and assess when escalation needs to be occur 
  • Commitment to consumer and medical center confidentiality 
  • Provide motivating leadership to a team and on an individual basis 
  • Good judgment, decision-making skills, delegation and oversight

Working Conditions:

  • Clinic/office setting
  • 40 hours within time frame of Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm
  • Job Type: Full-time
