The Ambulatory care clinics, centers and services are physician managed/directed services. However, the Executive Director for Ambulatory Services along with the Executive Director for Ambulatory Nursing and Clinical/Practice Managers collaborate with the physician staff to identify and define those areas where nursing care or nursing support is provided. Nursing care/Medical Support and services are provided in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary and often multi-service environment.
Generally children who experience acute onset of illnesses will be seen at Children’s National for initial treatment. Subsequent visits may occur in either the clinics or Regional Outpatient Centers. The type of service or care provided in each setting dictates whether nursing care or nursing services are provided. Each clinic or ROC has identified the diagnoses which will be seen at Children’s National.
Ambulatory Care Services consist of the specialty clinics and the primary care clinics, serving patients aged from infants to adults.
